Encourage Me that I may Encourage Others

Some days I get really down and things happen that make me wish I was in bed still, and the next day God encourages me in one way or another. God is so great and it is easy to forget that, its easy to forget that He really loves us and wants to encourage us. When we sin, He wants us to know, when we ask for forgiveness, that we are truly forgiven. For those of you who know me, know that I have been having a rough past couple of days. Honestly, this morning I didn’t want to get up or do anything, and yesterday when I had family stuff, I just wanted to sleep for the rest of the day. I had two choices, I could pray and ask God to guide me, or I could let satan’s lies take over and control me.

My decision was to pray, I prayed that He would give me discernment, He would help me to know what to think. The surprising thing is, God did not do those things right away, instead, He encouraged me. In my devotion, it talked about leaning on God, it said that He would lead me through the day and keep me together. Then during my day, I had a really good practice with one of the people helping me with my senior recital. He encouraged me through that, then through my journal writing, I decided to stop some sins I still struggled with. Today I said that I’m not going to give in to that sin anymore, I want to get better and turn around from those things.

We all have those little sins, even just sins of thinking things about people or even taking pencils and pens from work. God still loves us through that. I know I get so stressed about so much in life and I forget that God is good and that He is faithful. When we submit to some of our sins we feel awful, and it makes us feel sick, but the good news is we can confess those sins, and repent and turn away from them. We can ask for forgiveness and move forward. I am repenting now, for these sins that I have done and turning away from them. I have asked God for forgiveness and the strength to not do them again.

I know God will be faithful in this because He has always been faithful and He has always done what He has promised. He encourages us in many different ways, we just have to pay attention and diligently ask and seek Him, and we do that, He gives us clarity and helps us know that He is communicating with us.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.- 2 Corinthians 4:16

God renews us day by day and makes us new, we are made pure and clean in his eyes, He won’t leave us desolate or alone. He made us, we are His children, and co-heirs with Christ.

When the Spirit of truth comes , He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.- John 16:13

God communicates with us through His holy word, through His servants, and through authors, pictures and prayer. God wants to talk with us, and when someone hears the word “talk” they think literally about God having an audible voice. I’ve never heard an audible voice, and if I have I wouldn’t understood that it was Him. God speaks most through words, and through miracles. Now I’m not just talking about people being healed and physically being lifted but I’m talking about needing money to save your home, and something happening and you get the exact amount of money you need to save your home. When you pray about God doing something in you and when worshipping or talking to someone your heart changes or your mind understand something.

God is faithful, and He will do what it takes to be in relationship with His children.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.- Deuteronomy 7:9

God is faithful, He was faithful with Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the Israelites, He never failed or forsook them. Even when Israel turned against God, He still loved them and He still did things to keep them safe and to show His glory to them. God has been and always will be faithful. What does this mean for us? It means we have to continually pray and ask God for our hearts to be open and our minds to be clear and our discernment to be strong.

All this really points to is prayer, we need to be strong in prayer, sometimes we wonder why we don’t hear from God. Its not that we don’t hear from God, its that we don’t ask God the right things, we don’t think before we speak. We need to ask God to give us discernment, help us to think clearly, to really know what He wants us to do. I know when I kind of stay away from praying, I don’t hear from God, and its not that He isn’t speaking, its that I am not listening. Next time you feel like you’re not hearing from God, pray, think about specific questions, specific things you want to know. In one of my classes I took last semester, it was called, “Exegetical methods to the Old Testament” and in the book, the author explains that as Christians, we tend to not deal in specifics when we should. Not only does it make us better Bible readers but it makes us better prayer warriors.

I am going to pray for you and myself right now.

Father God,

Thank you for today, thank you for Jesus and the fact that we can have a relationship to Him, and a way to you. I pray that you would give us clear minds and discerning hearts. I pray that we would have brave Spirits, and Spirits open to you and to the things that are related to you. Lord, I pray that you would keep us from any sins that we struggle with, give us strength to combat against the temptations. Whatever the person who is reading this is going through, that you would take the burden off of their shoulders. Lead them to victory Lord, guide them into righteousness that they may make you proud that they would do great things for your kingdom, even if they seem small to them. Lord God, thank you for your mercy and grace, and forgive us for when we are not good, forgive us when we give into our sins. Please watch over us, I pray that our homes will be safe places full of your loving Spirit, please have your hand on us that are sick, heal them, make them well give them the ability to do what they can’t. I pray that you would watch over each of us, and help us to make sure we hear you clearly. God thank you for encouragement and the way that you continually let us know that you’re here and that you love us and are completely helpful.

Amen

Much love,

M
