Healing

IMG_1399

It happened again, I wish it would stop, I need a break. This person doesn’t understand me; they just haven’t been through this. I’m too stupid, and ugly, Im not good enough.

I’m sure we have all felt this way at one time or another, when I started college I was really broken, lost, lonely, and I felt all of those things. As I grew, those four years really taught me who I am, and who God purposed me to be. The more I learned about myself and the more I trusted other people with my junk, the more I healed.

Ive often found that when we harbor negative emotions and thoughts, we blame others and build up the damage and resentment. We don’t grow and we don’t heal. We have to stop saying “They don’t/won’t understand” because thats not fair to them and they don’t deserve the negativity we give to them.

Real healing comes in the context of community-safe community- where you can share your faults and your junk and take hold of this freedom that is yours in Christ. Your healing is tied to healthy community and your willingness to get real with the people in your life that love you and love God.”-Matt Tommey

We have to be honest, and we have to talk about our problems because that is what God created community for. After going to God, it is good to go to someone you trust. Doing this helps us to become free and get the chance to hear from God through the love of our brothers and sisters. The chance is they could very well understand and if they don’t just them listening will make you feel so much better. James puts it this way,

Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

-James 5:16

When we hold on to hurt and negative emotions and to the lies that satan tells us, we hold ourselves back. Thats why its important, after talking to God to talk with a trusted friend or loved one. Usually God uses others to point out what He wants us to see without us realizing it. Healing can come when we allow ourselves to be open with people and we start to have room to grow. If I had never opened up about myself to someone, I would have never leaner about my social anxiety and grown from it.

There’s a lot of hurt and pain in this world, and thats why we have God, but even more thats why the church is so important. The church is a rescue center, and not just for the lost but for the children of God. its a place of community that is supposed to build each other up, and help one another through sin.

Please, anytime you feel you need to confide in someone but don’t feel like there is anyone you can trust, please let me know, I will love you through it and I will be honest with you. You deserve to be happy, free, and loved.

Much love,
M
