The Mystery by Lacey Sturm

Through raw, honest and personal stories, rock princess Lacey Sturm shows you why true love is difficult and often painful-but still worth it. On the journey she recognizes destructive patterns in her own relationships, heals from past wounds, finds a way to trust again, and discovers a vision for a flourishing love that heals us, frees us-and is something we can believe in.

Much like Lacey, I grew up wearing dark make up, I was into bands like Bring Me the Horizon and Woe, is Me. I also grew up believing I wasn’t lovable and I would never be good enough. I connected with this book so much, the raw emotions and honest conversations made me remember who I was before Christ. I was very much the orphaned heart that Sturm talks about.

If you’re struggling with something and you are thinking about suicide please, call someone you trust and pick up a copy of this book. There is hope and love for everyone. I grew up believing the lie that I wasn’t lovable and I self-harmed for a short time and thought about suicide a few times. I was in such a dark place. I wish I had something like this book to read when I was fifteen.

All in all, I gave this book a 5 out of 5 stars, I would definitely recommend it if you’re going through some hard stuff or if someone around you is struggling. I already know someone I want to lend this book too. Its important to talk about our hurts so that we can heal and be healthy. Mental health is just as important as spiritual and physical health. You are beautiful and loved and wanted!
