For fans of Tina Fey and David Sedaris – Internet star Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, makes her literary debut.

Jenny Lawson realized that the most mortifying moments of our lives – the ones we’d like to pretend never happened – are in fact the ones that define us. In Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson takes listeners on a hilarious journey recalling her bizarre upbringing in rural Texas, her devastatingly awkward high school years, and her relationship with her long-suffering husband, Victor.

I had never heard of Jenny Lawson until I purchased her second book “Furiously Happy”. I loved that one so much that I had to get the first one, her sense of humor just tickles me! The way she puts things constantly reminds me of how I am every day with my husband! What I also appreciate is that she’s honest with her anxiety and depression even though its masked sometimes by her humor.

As someone who struggles constantly with social anxiety I totally get where she’s coming from and I appreciate that she shares her life. I did enjoy this book but not quite as much as the other one. This one I felt wasn’t as transparent as the other but it was more family oriented and kind of explains how she grew up, it was funny to see how she met her husband and how they got together.

All in all I gave this book a 3/5 stars, I would recommend reading her other one if you’re not impressed with this one.

Have you read it? What do you think about it?
