This is my diaper bag, its from Babies R Us, I got it as a gift at my baby shower and I absolutely love it! I know that when I started packing my diaper bag, I repacked it at least five times. As a new mom, I had no idea what to put in it, I was so confused about what was necessary and what wasn’t.
These are what I usually pack:
I only pack a few, and I give them to Levi when he is bored or, because he is teething right now, to help him calm down. They work wonderfully, again they were a baby shower gift, Im not sure where they are from but you can get them at Target or Babies R Us.
Spit up cloth
I pack one of these because my baby has reflux pretty bad so I know that I will need it at some point.
I pack this because it helps with burping and spit up, but it can also double as a blanket. They are super handy and practical.
2 pairs of socks and 2 pairs of mittens
You never know what temperature a building will be when you go in so I find its always good to have these with you to make sure your baby is warm. The mittens also help with your baby scratching.
I always have one on hand in case levi starts acting funny, or gets super fussy, and I don’t know why. its always good because babies can’t communicate quite yet about how they are feeling.
Nose suction thing
This is a smaller version of the one you get at the hospital to help get stuff out of your babys mouth. I use the smaller ones for his nose to help get the boogers out because he can’t.
Destine is great! I live in Florida so the heat can sometimes cause diaper rash on Levi and the destine helps prevent them from happening during really hot and humid days.
Baby food and a spoon
I do this in case we are going to be out longer than I thought so that Levi can stay on his feeding schedule.
Levi only uses these in the car or when he goes to sleep, he isn’t really attached to them but I find that they are helpful in case I am driving and can’t attend to him right away.
Rice cereal and formula
Levi doesnt like the taste of rice cereal so I put it in his bottle so that he gets used to the taste, and it helps with his reflux. I only pack these if we are going to have a long day.
Bibs come in handy in a lot of situations, not just eating.
Diapers and wipes
Diaper throw away bags
These are like dog poop bags but for babies. I love them, if I am somewhere where I can’t throw away his diapers right away I use them and throw them away when I can. they block the smell and they protect your bag from the contents of the diaper.
A sun hat
Again, living in Florida makes going out a little bit of a hassle so we have to pack a hat to keep the sun off of Levi’s face and head to prevent sunburns.
Baby powder is your best friend in hot places, it keeps the baby dry and comfortable and rash free.
Baby morton and orajel
The motrin is good incase you’re going to the pediatricians and they get a shot that day, it helps to keep the fevers away. levi is teething right now, so the oracle goes everywhere so that he can have some relief. Im thinking about trying some of the dissolvable pills they make for babies soon.
Last but not least I always pack extra outfits, levi likes to wait until he has clothes on to spit up so often times he has to go through three outfits before he is done. Anything can happen with babies.
Thats all the stuff in my diaper bag, I hope this helps if you’re a new mom and want some ideas of what to pack in your diaper bag.
