Where are you?

Friend one: That girl is like eight, where are her parents?

Friend Two: I feel like thats the question of the century, where are the parents?

Im about to be a mother of two, I have a wonderful one year old boy and in October I will have a little girl. Being a parent is the most scary and most awesome thing to be in this world. I have times where I miss being able to do things alone but then my little boy does something funny or cuddles with me and I can’t think of my life without him.

There are so many hurting people in this world and while God is the only one who can heal them, where the hurt starts is with the parents.

Parenting is the toughest job on earth as you are responsible for the physical, emotional & mental development of another human being. -Unknown

Growing up I lived with my mom and dad, but not my biological dad, I never knew him and I still don’t. Even though my dad adopted me as his own, my parents still caused hurt in my life. They also gave me some awesome opportunities that gave me some really good experiences.

Being a parent is not easy. We have to realize though that kids do not just become who they are over night. Everything we are is developed over our whole life, we are parts of our experiences.

Clarity and focus doesn’t always come from God or inspirational quotes. Usually, it takes your mother to slap the reality back into you. -Shannon L. Alder

As parents we cannot prevent everything from hurting our children but we can make their lives enjoyable. We can make their childhood one they can appreciate, we can teach them and love them. No one is perfect, there is no such thing as a perfect parent, God is the only perfect parent.

What Im trying to point out is, we must be there for our children. Who they become, is often, a reflection on the love and attention they got as a child.  Their morals, and expectations are set at childhood and then developed in more complexity over time. Sometimes as a parent you’ll impart wisdom and they will listen, other times they won’t. Sometimes they will come back and admit you were right and they will change and other times they will resent you and step farther away.

If theres one thing I know, its, even if my children break my back, take all my money, turn away from the Lord, I will still be there for them any time they need me. If they become the richest people in the world, or if they are the poorest, I will still be there for them. I am their mommy, I always will be and as long as the Lord has me in this world, I will be there for my babies any time they need me.

Take time to be a parent today. The cleaning can wait a few moment. The car will still be there. Your phone, laptop, tv won’t disappear, take time to be a mother or a father, play with your babies, love them, teach them, feed them good or bad foods,  Be with them, because someday you’ll be gone and when they are old enough and ready, they will be out of the house making their own decisions.

Kids are gifts, dont take them for granted. They are work, I won’t lie, its hard but at the end of the day, I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful gift.

Much love,
